The race will be held in Hunan province near the town of Zhangjiajie, in the mountain range that inspired the "Floating Mountains of Pandora" in the blockbuster U.S. film, Avatar. The wingsuit pilots will race down the famed Tianmen Mountain.
The World Wingsuit Championship is going to be held on Tianmen mountain in Zhang Jiajie, held by the World Wingsuit League(WWL). It’s said that 16 excellent pilot from 9 different countries will compete for the “King of Wingsuit pilot”
The league is kicking off with the Tianmen Mountain Grand Prix Wingsuit Race where contestants will start the race by jumping off a 900-foot cliff, which you have to say is very different than how most sporting events begin.
For centuries this place has captured the attentions of Chinese painters, and more recently has inspired floating mountains in James Cameron's blockbuster film, Avatar.
Some of the best climbing and hiking in the world can be found in the northwestern part of Zhangjiajie's Suoxiyu Scenic Area.
