The East Asian Cultural City, Daegu Celebrations, raised its curtain in Daegu Opera House on May 12, 2017. Standing Committee Member and Publicity Department Director of the CPC Changsha Municipal Committee Gao Shan led a cultural exchange delegation to attend the opening ceremony.
Gao Shan, Daegu Mayor Kwon Young-jin, and Kyoto Mayor Daisaku Kadokawa sign a collaboration agreement on cultural exchanges.
More than 1,400 people, including Chinese, Japan, and South Korean cultural delegations, and Daegu people attended the ceremony. An art troupe of Changsha Protection and Inheritance Center on Flower-drum Opera gave Chinese cultural performances. The “Suona Solo and Changing Faces” won applause from the audience. The rearranged Hunan flower-drum opera "Flying a Kite" demonstrated Hunan culture. The “Changsha Folk Song” with modern music elements showcased Changsha characteristics. In addition, Daegu and Kyoto artists staged a series of performances.
