The preview of the first Hunan Cultural Relics Special Auction was held in Changsha on October 21. The 52 centimeters high gilt bronze statue of Sakyamuni, the founder of Buddhism, from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644) and the holograph Mao Zedong wrote in 1954 attracted a lot of collectors.
The auction is one of the main activities of the 12th Hunan (International) Cultural Relics Expo. The head office of Hunan provincial cultural relics specially selected 453 cultural relics for the event, including 102 porcelain items, 146 jade articles, 133 other items and 72 paintings and calligraphies. All these items for auction hold great historic and artistic value. This preview lasts till October 22 and the auction is scheduled to be officially held on October 23.
