The Airbus A319 from Shenzhen by China Southern Airlines arrived at Huaihua Zhijiang Airport at 9:30 a.m. on September 10, marking the official opening of Shenzhen-Huaihua-Chengdu Flight, the fifth airline of Zhijiang Airport. Prior to this line, Zhijiang Airport has launched flights to Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Changsha, Kunming, Haikou and Xi’an, etc.
Zhijiang Airport in recent years has vigorously expanded aviation market via increasing airlines and flights, as well as improving airline network, and witnessed a rapid growth of passenger flow. The number of takeoff and landing flights in 2013 was 1,616 and its passenger throughput reached 134,000, up 45% and 41% respectively over the same period of 2012. 1,944 flights took off and landed in Zhijiang Airport from January to August in 2014, and passenger throughput exceeded 140,000, increased by 108% and 73% year on year respectively. It has become an airport with the most rapid increase among all the feeder airports in Hunan.
