At present, headquarters of Zhangjiajie Lotus International Airport extension project has been officially established, marking the start of the project.
The Zhangjiajie airport reconstruction project takes 2020 as its target year. By 2020, the throughput of the airport is projected to reach 5 million passengers and 19 thousand tons of goods. Besides, the aircraft take-off and landing is expected to reach 45 thousand sorties, and the project is estimated to involve a total investment of 1.962 billion yuan. The reconstruction covers such aspects as aircraft movement area, terminal area as well as production and living facilities, public utilities, and general drawing. Since the project started in May, 2007, it has completed a total investment of about 700 million yuan. Main projects like parallel taxiway and the station site of the first phase in the reconstruction of the aircraft movement area have been completed and put into use. Meanwhile, auxiliary projects including houses for airport work, freight station, and fire station have also been put into operation. Currently, the pile foundation of the new terminal project has been basically completed.
