On May 2, the 2014 China Huangsang (Hunan) Tent Festival opened in Shangbao Village, Huangsangping Miao Ethnic Town, Suining County, Shaoyang City. Hundreds of outdoor sports amateurs from Zhejiang, Guangdong, Guangxi, and Hunan camped out on the top of the over 1,700-meter-high mountain, experiencing the local folk culture and enjoying the forest scenery.
Shangbao Village is the site of ancient Miao Kingdom, which is called Shangbao Ancient Kingdom by the locals. The relic of the throne room is still preserved here, and folk buildings are distinctive.
"We can enjoy fresh air, beautiful environment, simple folk customs here, and the local people are very warm, and joining in the activity does good to health," Dai Hong, an outdoor sports amateur from Loudi City of Hunan, hailed the festival.
In addition, the event donated more than 10,000 books and materials worth over 60,000 yuan to Huangsang Center Primary School.
