Themed "Love across the Straits, A Harmonious Family", the 8th China Yangming Mountain "Harmony" Cultural Tourism Festival and the Cross-Strait Tourism and Trade Promotion Meeting kicked off in Shuangpai County, Yongzhou City, Hunan Province, on April 28. The activity is jointly hosted by the Taiwan Affairs Office of Hunan Province, the Education Department of Hunan Province, the CPC Yongzhou Municipal Committee, and the Yongzhou Municipal People's Government.
There are two Yangming Mountains both in Shuangpai of Yongzhou and north of Taiwan, sharing an identical name and the same origin. Yangming Mountain in Shuangpai has always been known as a famous mountain since ancient times, enjoying unique sceneries featuring "ancient, rare, smart, and elegant", a long-standing "harmony" culture tradition, as well as a profound Buddhism origin. The mountain in Taipei, about 2,000 meters above sea level, lies in the north of the city, where visitors can view the night scene, takea bath in hot spring, and appreciate alocasia flower field.
The cultural festival is expected to increase Hunan and Taiwan's exchanges and cooperation in such fields as culture, economy, trade, and tourism, accelerate the establishment of Yangming Mountain cross-strait exchange base, build a quality and vigorous Yongzhou brand, and promote sound and rapid economic and social development of Yongzhou.
