On April 8, the Hengyang Revolutionary Martyrs Museum officially opened to the public. About 1,000 local cadres and citizens visited the museum to commemorate the revolutionary martyrs and express gratitude for a happy life that they inherited due to sacrifices of the brave.
The museum, located in Hengyang Martyrs' Park, covers a construction area of about 1,390 square meters. Major historic events that happened in Hengyang in three historic periods including the new democratic revolution, the socialist construction, and reform and opening up, as well as stories of 79 martyrs and three outstanding figures are exhibited in the museum. With the "integrating objects in scenery" contextualization technique and high-tech sound technology and light effects used, the exhibition gives a sense of personally living the scenes.
Hengyang is a famous city of the Anti-Japanese War. Secretary of the CPC Hengyang Municipal Committee Li Yilong said, as an important education base for patriotism of Hengyang, the museum is aimed at providing people with an experience where they can witness the history, inherit the martyrs' wish, advance the martyrs' spirit, and strive for constructing a well-off and beautiful Hengyang.
