It is learnt from the Cultural Department of Wulingyuan District on December 26 that Zhangjiajie Charming Western Hunan art troupe was invited by the Hunan Provincial Department of Culture to perform Xiangxi folk songs and dances in Italy and Malta from January 17 to 28, 2014, marking the troupe’s first performance abroad.
In order to well promote Zhangjiajie’s culture and tourism, Charming Western Hunan selected over 30 elite performers and 11 quality programs like “Cuicui in the Biancheng Town” and “Weeping Marriage”, which have been rehearsed for over a hundred times. Yang Jihong, executive president of the Charming Western Hunan said that via this visit they expect to demonstrate Western Hunan’s multi-ethnic culture to overseas audience, expand the influence of Charming Western Hunan abroad, and enhance Zhangjiajie’s popularity in the European market.
Zhangjiajie’s Charming Western Hunan, pioneer and leader of Hunan tourism performing arts, has an international cultural square which can seat 2,600 people. It also boasts two hallmarks, namely the National Cultural Industry Demonstration Base and the National Cultural Tourism Key Project.
