Dragon boats sail through winds and waves.
The dragon boat racing event for the 8th Changsha Sports Games was held on June 9 at the Qianlong (Thousand-Dragon) Resort in Getang Town. Six dragon boat racing crews from districts and counties across the city competed intensely on the close-to-3,000-mu (about 201 hectares) Qianlong Lake.
The event for adult men group was divided into two categories, the standard 500-meter and 200-meter straightaway racing.
During the race, dragon boats sailed like living arrows sent forth from the bow. Drummers were seated on the boats to set the pace for paddlers competing against other oarsmen.
