Xinhua County Leads Cultural Tourism in Central Hunan

Xinhua County ranks No.1 among Hunan tourism counties, according to the assessment report released at the end of May. Boasting its vigorous cultural tourism industry, the county stood out counties characterized by their local economic development patterns in the first round of evaluation conducted in the province. The county achieved an average annual growth of 70% in the revenue generated by the cultural tourism sector in the past three years, making it the leader of this sector in central Hunan.

Known as the core area of Meishan Culture( a branch of Chinese martial arts), Xinhua earns honors of China Meishan Culture Cradle, Home of Chi You Culture (a tribal leader in ancient China), Home of Martial Arts, Home of Folk Arts and Home of Chinese Poetry.

During the past three years, Xinhua has improved infrastructure in its well-known tourist attractions such as Ziquejie Terraced Fields, Meishan Dragon Palace, Daxiong Mountain. Some landmark tourism projects including Xiongshan Temple, Chi You Culture Park and urban scenic belt are progressing toward completion. A batch of provincial-level characteristic tourism towns and villages like Shuiche Town, Xiatuan Village and Zhenglong Village have won wider popularity. Some backbone tourism enterprises have emerged and are becoming stronger.
 
In accordance with the strategy of building up a vigorous tourism county, Xinhua is striving to develop Great Ziquejie Scenic Spot and Daxiong Mountain Scenic Spot into engines of the county's tourism industry. This strategic backbone industry is estimated to bring in an annual revenue of 11 billion yuan for the county by 2015.
