2,000 Volunteers took part in a hiking to Promote Low-carbon Life in Changsha

Recently, around 2,000 volunteers from 128 government departments, public institutions and enterprises of Changsha took part in a hiking contest along the Meixi Lake on the theme of “Low-carbon Life in Beautiful Changsha”. They called for citizens to lead a low-carbon life and build an elegant Changsha boasting clearer water, a brighter sky and a prettier city by means of joyful competitions themed as “Sporting for Health and Joy”.

On green pure cotton T-shirts, volunteers hiked along the lake for 7 kilometers. They promoted a low-carbon life, including wear clothes made of such environment-friendly materials as cotton and flax, handwash clothes, not use disposable chopsticks and messtins, save water and energy, reduce the use of computers, plastic bags, papers and cars and increase the use of bicycles and public transports. They also called on to protect our mother river the Xiangjiang River via planting more flowers and trees.
