Wang Deshui (right) is granted the certificate of his donation by Hunan University

Wang Deshui’s painting and calligraphy works on display
“The Opening Ceremony of Yuelu Institute of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting & Deshui Calligraphy Exhibition” was held on April 12 at Hunan University. Wang Deshui, a Chinese artist living in Japan, is the 55th descendant of Wang Xizhi, “Sage of Calligraphy” from Tang Dynasty (265-420). His calligraphy and painting works on display will be collected and presented in the library of Hunan University.
Mr. Wang is adept in running script, Lishu (an ancient style of calligraphy current in the Han Dynasty), seal script cursive script and Weishu (an ancient style of calligraphy current in the Wei Dynasty). And he had created his unique style in paintings of figures, flowers, landscape, animal, plants and grass-and-insect painting. Living in Japan for over twenty years, Mr. Wang incorporates western styles and Japanese styles with traditional Chinese painting, and his works have been collected by many museums at home and abroad.
Mr. Wang created hundreds of paintings with the history and culture of Yuelu Academy as the theme. “I hope people can feel my love to Huxiang culture in these paintings.” said Wang Deshui.
Wang Deshui was appointed as the president of Yuelu Institute of Chinese Calligraphy and Painting by Hunan University in September, 2012.
