Yuelu District: Proud Recipient of "National Top 100 Districts"

According to the statistical department, the comprehensive strength of Yuelu District, Changsha has entered the list of National Top 100 Districts, becoming the “First Strong District” in central China.

In 2012, the average growth rate of seven main economic indicators including the general financial revenue of Yuelu District exceeded 20%, ranking No. One among all Changsha districts, and also standing out in over 40 districts of central China. Secretary of the CPC Yuelu District Committee Chen Zhong introduced that the rise of Yuelu District resulted from its efforts in grasping major development opportunities, implementing the “Catching and Surpassing” Strategy and rapidly strengthening its weak aspect in industrial development.

Yuelu District has grasped the development opportunity of Changsha’s “Constructing along the Xiangjiang River and Developing across the Xiangjiang River” strategy as well as the “Two-Oriented” Society construction since 2008, beginning its industrial development journey. In order to break the bottleneck of narrow development space, Yuelu District conducted a demolition of 80 thousand mu (about 5333.33 hectare) land. The district’s carrying capacity has been greatly enhanced, with the urban area enlarging from 145 square km to 552 square km and the urban population increasing from 400 thousand to 800 thousand.
