Changsha Mayor Zhang Jianfei met a delegation from the Quality Tourism Service Association (QTSA) and shared ideas about the protection and tourism development of the Yuxiang Cotton Mill, a one-hundred-year old industrial heritage in Changsha.
The Yuxiang Cotton Mill is one of the well-preserved historic sites in Changsha. Most of its equipment and workshops were destroyed by a big fire during the Anti-Japanese War in 1938. In 2009, Changsha Municipal People's Government funded over 10 million yuan to rebuild the gatehouse and some buildings, and then the mill was open to the public as a tourist attraction. Changsha will further demonstrate the profound culture and unique architecture style of the mill to make it the city's landmark attraction of high quality tourism and relaxation.
Mayor Zhang hoped that QTSA, with rich cultural tourism resource and experience in advanced service management, can offer advice and suggestions on the protection and tourism development of the Yuxiang Cotton Mill to display its historical and cultural charm.
