Hunan Identifies Key Areas for Work Concerning Red Tourism in 2013

2013 marks the 120th anniversary of Mao Zedong's birth, presenting a great opportunity for Hunan's red tourism industry. The main red tourism spots are expected to receive over 60 million domestic and international tourists, realizing a total revenue of more than 35 billion yuan.

The meeting identified the key areas for Hunan's work concerning red tourism in 2013, including holding the 2013 China (Xiangtan) Red Tourism Cultural Festival to commemorate the 120th birthday anniversary of Mao Zedong, conducting the first training course for administrative staff at red tourism destinations at the provincial level, establishing the hometown of Liu Shaoqi at Ningxiang County as a 5A (the highest level) tourist attraction, building 23 classical scenic spots of red tourism at the national level and 37 at the provincial level, and promoting 5 top-quality tourist routes (i.e., Journey of Red Sun, Journey of Red Storm, Remounting Jinggang Mountain, Exploring the Route of Long March, Journey in Memory of Heroines).
