The 9th National Cultural Relics & Arts Exchange Fair was held in Hunan Provincial Cultural Relics Store from March 8th to 10th. It attracted about 10,000 antique collectors and 400 antique dealers from Afghanistan, Singapore, Hong Kong, Taiwan and over 20 provinces (prefectures) of China. According to the statistics released by Hunan Provincial Cultural Relics Store, the total sales figure of this fair amounted to 103 million Yuan, exceeding 100 million Yuan for the first time.
Before 2008, Changsha housed only a few antique stores namely, Hunan Provincial Cultural Relics Store, Qingshuitang Antique Street and Huxiang Cultural & Arts Market for antique exchange. With emergence of National Cultural Relics & Arts Exchange Fair concept in 2009, all antique enthusiasts and dealers from across the country started gathering in Changsha in Spring and Autumn each year. Due to its dynamic popularity growth in recent 4 years, the fair is symbolized as a weather vane in the field of antique exchange. Till 2011, the total number of antique markets had grown to 7 whereas over 2,000 antique stores had surfaced.
