Hunan puts great efforts to Protect and Transform Over 100 Minority Villages

The plenary session of the Hunan Provincial Commission of Ethnic Affairs was held on February 20. The commission began by highlighting the progress made toward unity among provincial ethnic groups during the previous year. There are currently 26 officially recognized provincial-level ethnic unity sites, 72 enterprises providing special commodities for minorities, and 12 local ethnic tea enterprises listed as national official national producers for specially needed commodities. Meanwhile, there are 620 ethnic product enterprises which have which have enjoyed favorable loan interest rates resulting in savings of 120 million yuan. The province also put forth great efforts to protect and restore significant minority villages and offer assistance to minority people with financial difficulties.

The conference also laid out the plan for the coming year. During the Twelfth Five-Year Plan period, Hunan province will continue to give top priority to ethnic unity, emphasizing the protection and transformation of over 100 minority villages, as well as further promoting the protection of these and other villages. In summary, greater measures will be taken to develop minority areas better and faster.
