To commemorate the 120th anniversary of Chairman Mao Zedong’s birthday, the Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition of Mao Zedong’s Poetry unveiled its curtain on the morning of August 16.
More than ten old generals such as Admiral Gu Shanqing, Lieutenant General Mi Zhenyu, Lieutenant General Wang Houqing, Major General Wang Yuhua coming from Beijing and Guangzhou, and veteran comrades from Hunan Province including Xiong Qingquan, Liu Fusheng, Shen Ruiting and Zhu Dongyang as well as some local calligraphers attended the opening ceremony.
The exhibition is jointly hosted by the Political Department of the Hunan Military Area Command and the Beijing Jiangxing Painting and Calligraphy Institute. The 145 pieces of exihibited work, including calligraphy and paintings from 120 specially invited generals and those from invited local calligraohers, cover all published poems of Chairman Mao Zedong.Works of the invited generals were collectively published in a book.
