The 2013 China Ancestral Tea Festival was unveiled on April 20 in Changsha. Tasting tea and commemorating ancestors, tea makers of Hunan carried forward tea culture and promoted tea consumption to jointly forge Hunan’s tea into an industry with annual output value of more than 100 billion yuan.
More than four hundred people of the tea sector enjoyed tea and discussed the tea industry. “Wulinlv” and “Guzhang Maojian” of China Tea Co., Ltd., “Taoyuan wild leaves” and other famous high-quality tea won full praise. The two powerful tea-producing counties in Wuling Mountain areas, Taoyuan and Shimen, briefed on their tea development respectively.
In recent years, tea industry of Hunan emerges as a new force. According to relevant statistics, the area of tea garden reached 1.7 million mu (about 113,333.3 hectares) in 2012 with an output of 150,000 tons. The province processed and sold 410,000 tons of tea leaves, accounting for 30 percent of the national total. It earned over 100 million USD in foreign exchange through export for the first time.
To maintain the sound momentum and to forge a 100-billion Hunan tea industry are the two biggest advantages boasted by Wuling Mountain areas. Identifying advantages, producing more quality tea and deepening people's welfare become the great responsibilities of tea makers in Hunan.
