200 Volunteers Call for Dongting Lake Cowfish Protection

Nearly 200 environmental protection volunteers from Beijing, Changsha, Wuhan and Hong Kong gathered on the East Dongting Lake on March 31st. They inspected Dongting Lake area by land and water routes to look for cowfish and explore its current living conditions, in an attempt to necessitate the protection of cowfish and ecological environment of Dongting Lake.

During this trip, all environmentalists felt it their  responsibility to recuperate the natural atmosphere of Dongting Lake. A fisherman, when interviewed by the journalists, said that if everyone starts caring about the Lake and does practical work for it, fulfilling the goals of protecting Dongting Lake would prove easy.

Peng Xiangming, Director Beizhou Fishery Administration Center, Fishery Administration Department of Yueyang County jokingly said, cowfish was noticed to be rather active that day because they were smart enough to realize that these volunteers were there to protect them.

After about two and a half's hours expedition, 7 volunteers covered 18 kilometers and arrived in Yueyang Tower at 13:10 p.m.
