Changsha Wins National Energy-Saving Award

The Changsha Municipal Energy Bureau (CMEB) was listed among 280 national advanced energy-saving units during the 11th Five-year Plan period (2007-2012). This distinction was awarded by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security, the National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministry of Environmental Protection, and the Ministry of Finance.

Since 2007, Changsha’s million yuan GDP energy efficiency has topped cities and prefectures across the province captured the leading position in provincial capital cities in central China. The city was evaluated to have surpassed provincial energy saving targets for four years in a row.

In 2013, the city plans to make all-out efforts to implement the government financial policies for energy-saving and emission reduction by curbing total consumption and emission amounts, adjusting industrial structures, enhancing management, and promoting environmental programs. Demonstrative energy projects will be put on the top agenda, especially the natural gas distribution projects at Ningxiang Tianning Thermal Power Plant and Wangcheng Tongguan Kiln Site. It’s estimated that 10 such natural gas projects will be completed, covering public institutions, industrial parks, commercial and residential buildings, and housing communities with a total available capacity of 600 MW.
