1,300-kilometer Greenway is under Planning in Changsha

On January 10, Wang Huifang, chief engineer of the Changsha Urban and Rural Planning Bureau, and Gong Yi, planner from the Compiling Center of Urban and Rural Planning affiliated to the Changsha Planning and Survey Institute, introduced the greenway planning of Changsha City to the web portal of the Changsha Municipal People's Government.

Based on the principle of "Scenery Belt of Rivers and Green Belt of Road Network", Changsha's 1,300-kilometer greenway under planning is a combination of historical culture and natural ecological landscape,which covers 750 kilometers in the urban area, running to eight directions from the city center and connecting villages and towns via seven lines. The city greenway is scheduled to be 550 kilometers long, linking Xiangjiang River and other eight branches, 200 kilometers of which is to be built soon at the central city.

The greenway serves as roads for pedestrians and cyclists to enjoy recreation or body-building exercises, including cycle way, sidewalk and resting places with the tag system.
