Paraplegic makes base jump off China Aizhai bridge in wheelchair

More than 40 people have taken part in China's biggest base jumping festival on Aizhai Bridge in Hunan.

Thrill-seeking base jumpers and excited spectators converged on the Aizhai suspension bridge in China's Hunan province on Sunday for a major base jumping festival.

The 1,080ft-high suspension bridge, which opened on March 31, is the longest in China, according to the Daily Telegraph.

More than 40 jumpers from 13 different countries including Great Britain, Spain and Germany participated in the event, making it Asia's largest celebration of the daredevil sport.

Among the competitors at the festival in Hunan was Mr Lonnie Bissonnette, a 47-year-old paraplegic jumper from Canada who made the jump in his wheelchair.
