Water Flowing Four Ways:the Eastern Door of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park

Located in the center of Wulingyuan, Water Flowing Four Ways is eastern door of Zhangjiajie National Forest Park and western door of Suoxiyu Natural Reserve. Four streams merged in this valley, which covers 200 square meters. They are Golden Whip, Longwei , Mandarin Duck and Suoxi streams. There are green peaks, clear stream, dense wood and wild flowers around the valley. The green sandbar is on the middle of peaks. Four streams passed mountains and formed four natural gates. So, this place named Water Flowing Four Ways.

There are two stories about Water Flowing Four Ways. One is about Zhang Liang. resigned from his duty and travel around China following Chi Songzi. He passed Yangtze River and Dongting Lake and ride horse to get to Zhangjiajie. The beauty of Zhangjiajie attracted him and stayed here. Another is about Xiang Dakun. In the Ming Dynasty, in order to resist oppression of government, Xiang Dakun, the leader of local residents, made an uprising in Zhangjiajie. Xiang Dakun, named Emperor Xiang by himself. So, the sandbar named Emperor Sandbar.
